Healthy Banana Berry Smoothy

smoothie_1_1_.jpgWith fall right around the corner, you might want to start thinking of ways to strengthen your immune system so you won’t catch the wicked cold your roommate came down with last week or the infamous flu that’s been going around your circle of friends.  Protein helps grow and replenish bodily tissues and can be found in such foods as dairy products, beef, poultry, eggs, fish, nuts, legumes, and seeds. Not only does protein help you stay healthy, but it also supports your organ system and helps you build muscles. So next time you work out at the gym or go out for a jog, you might want to come home and drink this refreshing, delicious banana berry goodness. Who says staying healthy and looking good can’t taste even better?

Banana Berry Smoothie

  • 1 pear
  • 1 banana
  • ½ cup of frozen mixed berries or blueberries
  • 2 tbsp of skim milk (or soy milk if you don’t do dairy)
  • ¼ tsp of cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp of protein powder
  • 2-6 ice cubes (optional)

This recipe is simple. All you have to do is take the ingredients above and throw them into a blender. If you don’t like any of the fruit listed, that’s okay - tailor the recipe to your liking. For a more watered down version of the above, please feel free to add ice cubes as suggested.
