Shining Sister: Amanda Powell of Kappa Alpha Theta at University of Georgia
With a glowing rec letter like this one, how could we not help celebrate Amanda’s dedication to her chapter, her community and giving spirit. Congratulations to Amanda and the Gamma Delta KATs who nominated her for our Shining Sister Award! Y’all are a total inspiration!
“Our President Amanda Powell is someone who goes above and beyond her job as President to not only be a role model for the 200+ girls in our chapter, but she also makes a point to reach out as a friend to all.
Dedicated 120% to everything she is involved with, Amanda makes a point to put her heart into everything she is passionate about (which is a lot!). While performing the most difficult and stressful leadership position of any sorority woman with grace and a permanent smile, she also plays significant roles in many campus organizations for example the Leonard Leadership Scholars Program through the Terry College of Business.
As a Sophomore she was the Kappa Alpha Theta representative for the Sophomore Leadership Circle which is an organization for rising leaders of the Greek community. She was our Panhellenic delegate as a junior and was very involved in her committee, “Greeks Get Involved”. Aside from her contributions to the University of Georgia and Greek life she is also quick to lend a helping hand. Personally, from being on the executive board with her I have been a witness to Amanda’s selfless attitude many times, and I know my job was so much more successful because I always her to turn to.
As the 2007 recipient of the Ellen Hofstead Bowers Memorial Scholarship from the Kappa Alpha Theta foundation as well as the 2006 Lauren Tardis Memorial Scholarship from University of Georgia Panhellenic, Amanda is clearly viewed by all as a well rounded individual with “big dreams”.
This girl is definitely going places and I know that it would be such an honor for her and for our chapter to have her accomplishments acknowledged on your website. These are just a few reasons why I strongly believe that Amanda Powell is someone you will definitely be seeing more of in the future, her goals are set high and her aspirations are always met with her hard work and dedication.”
