Hi Girls,

You are the voice of ChickSpeak! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. This is your place to be heard by college women around the world.

We want to publish your stories, and we especially want to hear from women who have done something remarkable and want to tell about it. Inspire us!

Our content runs the gamut from everything that’s Smart, Sexy and Social in our lives, to the latest relationship dilemmas and big sister advice. Spend some time checking out our site and familiarize yourself with our style, content and attitude.

Be Heard

Whether this is your first article ever or you’re a senior journalism major, we welcome you. We do reserve the right to allow our staff to touch up your work and render it more in line with the overall voice and tone of our website.

You, the Ultimate Expert

Think about what you’ve learned about yourself and life since high school. Your experiences and ideas are the best advice other women can get because it’s REAL and HONEST. We started this site to be kind of a big-sister/ little sister experience for our members. You can have a huge impact. Consider, too, your network. Does your best friend make fabulous jewelry and sell it online? Is your roommate famous for her seven-layer dip recipe? Tell us about them. Your knowledge is the backbone of ChickSpeak, and not even the hottest Cosmo writer is hip to your insider’s story.

Edit, Edit, Edit

We like for you to feel that your piece is on its final draft, not its first. Run your piece by friends or family before you submit it. And because we are an online entity, just remember that less is more.

  • We are looking for a 250 – 1500 WORD COUNT.

Published Pieces Require Digital Images!

If we select your piece, we will ask you for accompanying digital images. We want to see how hot your Roman tour guide was, or how fabulous you looked on safari in Kenya.

  • Images need to be jpegs no bigger than 300k. Please please please do not insert images into your Word document and attach them thus. Our web design team will go nuts.

ChickSpeak Checklist for Writers:

  1. Submit a final draft piece of 250 - 1500 words.
  2. Please send along an appropriate picture. We do not publish stories without images.
  3. Include a photo of yourself, if not already on your profile.
  4. Include brief biographical information about yourself, if not already on your profile.
  5. You must be a registered member and have a dot edu email address to submit.

Put SUBMISSIONS in the subject heading of your email.

Be patient. We read EVERY submission. You may not see your article live on our site for a week or a month. We might be saving it for an upcoming special thematic issue, such as a Fashion Issue, Relationship Issue, etc. Of course we haven’t forgotten you. Try to hang in there.

Once you have FIVE published stories on ChickSpeak, we will offer you a position as a contributing writer at ChickSpeak. As a contributing writer, you will be placed on our Masthead and have opportunities to work directly with our Editorial Team on upcoming featured stories and interviews for our website and newsletter. ChickSpeak looks forward to hearing from you. Our goal is to be the ultimate resource for college women around the world.
